Faux Leather-Suede Fabric.

This fabric is awesome! Faux Leather on one side and faux suede on the other makes this fabric incredibly versatile for your bag-making needs.

The faux leather side sports a fine grain with a beautiful drape, use as it is for slouchy bags or interface for a more rigid finish. The faux-suede side has a short pile with a strokable nap.

Fusible interfacing can be used on this product. (See the How To Use tab for instructions.

How To Use

Cutting Out:

The fabric has a slight sideways stretch. Main pattern pieces should be cut on the straight of grain unless pattern instructions state otherwise. Straps can be cut across the grain but should then be sewn with a straight stitch. Because the fabric is not thick, half-width interfacing can be applied to stabilize cross-body straps if desired.

Strips for binding and piping that require stretch and flexibility can be cut across the grain.

Fusible interfacing may be applied to this fabric. we recommend Decovil light, Shae to Create or Pellon Sf101. If a woven interface is used, for best results, place the straight of grain of the interfacing across the cross-grain of the fabric.

ALWAYS TEST on a scrap of fabric first as results will depend on your iron setting and the type/brand of interfacing used.

  1. Make sure that your pressing mat/ironing board is cool before you start.
  2. Place the fabric right side down with the fusible interfacing glue side down on top
  3. Place a sheet of oven baking paper over the top
  4. Using an iron set to a medium temperature, press down gently on the fabric for 15-20 seconds, or according to your interfacing instructions, before moving on. Repeat a few times but check the fabric is not getting too hot.

Allow to cool completely, up to 30 minutes and check the bond. Repeat if necessary.

This fabric is easy to sew. It is not too thick. We recommend sewing with a microtex needle. Domestic machines will sew better with a vinyl, roller,Teflon or walking foot attached. Keep within the parameters of layers that your machine can handle Leather needles are NOT recommended.

If the fabric is sticking to the bed of the machine try putting baking paper underneath it or applying masking tape to both the bed and the underside of the foot.

If you make a mistake, unpick from the reverse and lift the thread out. If you have use a sharp microtex needle the original holes will not be too noticeable.

Storage and Care.

The fabric will be folded for shipping, we recommend unfolding it and rolling it for storage.

To iron, if creased - Place fabric, shiny side down onto a cold ironing board and cover with baking paper or pressing cloth. Then iron on a medium setting. Always test on a scrap first. See above.

Care: Wipe down gently with a damp cloth to clean. Do not hand wash or machine wash
